Firdavs Abduhalikov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan (CIC), paid a working visit to Mecca at the invitation of Abdulkarim al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), the Center’s press service reported.

During talks with al-Issa, the two sides discussed areas of bilateral cooperation between the CIC and MWL, including joint research, digitization of sources, the organization of international conferences and exhibitions, and knowledge exchange. Following the meeting, both parties expressed readiness to expand their strategic partnership and bring mutually beneficial projects to a new stage.

Abduhalikov also attended the presentation of MWL’s new digital platform aimed at digitizing Islamic heritage, strengthening scholarly cooperation, and making sources and research on Islamic civilization accessible to a global audience. The presentation brought together representatives of numerous international academic and religious institutions.

The Center of Islamic Civilization was built in Tashkent next to the Hast-Imam complex. The building is designed in the style of medieval architectural monuments, with four 34-meter portals and a 65-meter central dome. It houses a Quran hall, a 460-seat conference hall, and a museum whose exhibitions span the entire history of Uzbekistan—from pre-Islamic times to the present. The CIC is intended to serve as a platform for studying ancestral heritage and rethinking it in cooperation with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and scientific and educational centers worldwide.
