A representative office of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Region has opened in the American city of Hollywood, located in the state of Florida. The opening ceremony took place during the visit of the region’s governor, Zoyir Mirzaev, to the United States, according to the press service of the Tashkent Region administration (hokimiyat).
The administration noted that the primary goal of the Uzbek delegation’s trip to the U.S. is to strengthen international economic ties, attract foreign investment, and expand opportunities for bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
“The opening of the Tashkent Region representative office in Hollywood marks another important step in this direction,” the hokimiyat’s press service emphasized.
The administration expressed hope that the new U.S.-based office will become a platform for constructive dialogue aimed at promoting the region’s economic, cultural, and tourism potential in Florida and the United States more broadly.
The initiative also aims to foster closer ties between business communities, with the representative office serving as a bridge for entrepreneurs and providing practical support to Uzbek exporters entering the American market.
In addition, preliminary agreements have been reached between the authorities of Tashkent Region and the city of Hollywood on cooperation across various sectors. Details of the joint projects have not yet been disclosed.
On November 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree establishing the American–Uzbek Business and Investment Council. Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, has been appointed co-chair of the council on the Uzbek side.
The document also states that, beginning January 1, 2026, a new post — minister-counselor representing the Presidential Administration — will be introduced at Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States to improve coordination of joint initiatives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been instructed to explore opening additional consulates in American cities with large Uzbek communities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle.
The city of Hollywood in Florida was founded in 1925. It is located on the Atlantic coast and is known for its beaches, parks, and seaside promenades.
