Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić highlighted the importance of developing new transport routes connecting Central Asia and the Balkans, including within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Corridor. The two leaders met at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent, according to the press service of the Uzbek president.
The heads of state focused on boosting trade and preparing a comprehensive cooperation program in several key sectors, including mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, information technology, agriculture, and tourism.
To promote economic partnership, the sides agreed to hold the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent next year. They also discussed cooperation in organized labor migration, as well as cultural, humanitarian, and educational exchanges.
Mirziyoyev noted that the current summit would strengthen bilateral cooperation and elevate Uzbek-Serbian relations to a new level.
“Your official visit in the year marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations is a historic event. Uzbekistan holds great affection for Serbia. Our nations are united by strong bonds of friendship and a shared mentality,” the president said in greeting his guest.
Following the meeting, Mirziyoyev and Vučić signed a Joint Declaration.
In the presence of both leaders, a signing ceremony was also held for several intergovernmental and interagency agreements, including:
✅ An Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments;
✅ An Agreement on Economic Cooperation;
✅ An Agreement on Cooperation in Medical Services;
✅ An Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism;
✅ An Agreement on Cooperation in Engineering, Advanced Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Related Fields;
✅ A Memorandum on Cooperation in Labor Migration;
✅ A Protocol on Cooperation in Sports and Physical Culture;
✅ An Agreement on Establishing Partnership Relations between the Cities of Tashkent and Belgrade.
