President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has dismissed all three deputy ministers of higher education, science, and innovation. Shokhrukh Diliyev, Otabek Makhkamov, and Sarvarxon Buzrukhonov were removed from their posts because, according to the head of state, they “did not fully grasp the essence of reforms” in the sector. The announcement was made during a sectoral meeting, presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov reported.

“In the preschool and school education system, changes are taking place, programs are working, and results are visible. But officials responsible for professional and higher education have not yet fully understood the essence of the reforms in the education sector,” the president emphasized.

At the same time, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov retained his position.

In addition to the deputy ministers, Sharof Rajabbayev, head of the Agency for Innovative Development under the ministry, was dismissed.

It was also announced that Adham Khudaykulov, director of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education under the presidential administration, was released from his post due to a transfer to another role.

Mirziyoyev stated that the ministers of preschool, school, and higher education, along with their deputies and regional governors (hokims), must shift to preventive and proactive methods of work and implement fundamental changes across all levels of the education system.
