The construction of the Olympic Village in Tashkent has been completed. The project, costing nearly $290 million, was implemented by CAMC Engineering in accordance with international standards, the press service of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reported. The president visited the new sports complex on August 18.

The Olympic Village comprises five sports facilities. Of particular note is the velodrome, featuring an original design and complex engineering solutions. Its track geometry and turn angles comply with International Olympic Committee requirements. The multi-layered track surface uses various types of wood, and a stable indoor temperature will be maintained year-round. The venue accommodates 2,000 spectators and is multifunctional, allowing training and competitions in fencing and table tennis. President Mirziyoyev emphasized that table tennis is accessible and popular, instructing that it be actively promoted in schools and local communities, with domestic production of necessary equipment organized.

At the center of the complex stands a 12,000-seat stadium. It will host ceremonial events and competitions in 48 athletics disciplines, including world championships, the Diamond League, and Paralympic events for the visually impaired. The stadium will also serve local athletes for training. An adjacent four-story building houses national team specialists and sports federations.

The president stressed the importance of athletics and Paralympic disciplines for public health and noted that Uzbekistan has not fully utilized its potential in these areas. He instructed measures to develop all aspects of the “queen of sports,” renovate regional facilities, recruit foreign coaches, and enhance athletes’ skills.

The Olympic Village also features a modern aquatic palace, including 25×50 m swimming pools, 25×20 m diving pools, a training pool, and gyms, fully compliant with IOC standards, confirmed by a World Aquatics federation delegation. The venue can host Asian and world championships, including Olympic events, with seating for 2,000 spectators.

Facilities for team and martial arts sports were also built to international standards, each with three floors and a 2,000-spectator capacity. Venues host volleyball, basketball, handball, judo, boxing, and taekwondo events.

Additionally, the village has 15 open courts for football, volleyball, tennis, field hockey, and athletics. A 400-bed dormitory for Paralympians and a Scientific-Practical Center for Sports Medicine are set to open soon. All facilities are energy-efficient, with solar panels installed in parking areas.

Construction began in November 2022. President Mirziyoyev highlighted that the Olympic Village would symbolize the high creative potential of the Uzbek people, combining advanced architecture, energy efficiency, and innovative solutions.
