Uzbekistan Launches Campaign to Repatriate Citizens from Foreign Deportation Centers

Uzbekistan’s Agency for Migration has launched a charity initiative called Return to the Homeland, aimed at helping citizens held in foreign deportation centers return home. The campaign began on July 30 and will run until August 30, according to the agency’s press service.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad are actively involved in the process. By August 7, embassies and consulates will compile a list of citizens currently in deportation centers. A second list, to be completed by August 15, will include migrants requiring additional documents due to incomplete personal data.

The Agency for Migration will receive these lists and purchase airline tickets for the registered citizens within one to three working days.

If a citizen contacts the agency directly, officials will reach out within hours and accept the necessary documents remotely. Applications will be reviewed within 24 hours, with tickets purchased within two additional days.

Local administrations (hokimiyats), the Ministry of Employment, and the Committees on Family and Women’s Affairs will provide psychological, social, and economic reintegration support to returnees.

The agency’s press service emphasized that Return to the Homeland will primarily focus on women and children held in deportation centers in:
