Uzbekistan’s Agency for Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers has expressed concern over the use of physical force against foreigners during a recent police raid in Moscow. The agency urged affected Uzbek nationals to contact its representative office in Russia, according to a statement on its official Telegram channel.

According to Uzbek officials citing online sources, the incident occurred on June 8 in the Sokolniki district, where a sweep was conducted to verify the legal status of labor migrants. Footage and reports circulating in the media and on social media platforms drew strong public reaction over the conduct of the Russian National Guard officers, who were seen using physical force.

As a result of the operation, 5 to 6 individuals were detained for violating migration laws. Among them were two citizens of Tajikistan, who were later deported from Russia.

“In light of the growing interest each year from the Russian government and major employers in the organized recruitment of Uzbek citizens for work in Russia, such instances of mistreatment of foreign nationals by certain law enforcement officers are deeply regrettable and troubling,” the Migration Agency stated.

Officials also appealed to Uzbek citizens who suffered physical harm, experienced rights violations, or encountered similar issues during the incident. They are urged to contact the agency’s representation in Russia without delay via phone at +7 925 045-47-44 or on Telegram: @pomoshrussiamigrant and @huquqiy_yordam_uzbot.

According to media reports, on June 8, Russian security forces carried out a raid on a migrant dormitory in Moscow. Eyewitnesses said officers treated the residents roughly—forcing them out of their rooms, pushing and kicking those who hesitated, and verbally abusing the foreigners.
