President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the leadership of the largest companies and banks during his official visit to Hungary, according to the press service of the head of the Central Asian republic.
It is specified that the Hungarian side was represented by top managers and founders of such organizations as OTP Bank, BDPST Group, 4iG, Indotek, MVM, Duna Group, MOL Group, H2O Consortium, Inpark, Wizz Air, and others.
Mirziyoyev noted the symbolic significance of beginning his visit with talks with business leaders. The president especially highlighted the dynamic growth of direct Hungarian investment in Uzbekistan’s economy. In particular, it was emphasized that OTP Bank had previously acquired control over one of the country’s largest financial institutions — Ipoteka Bank — thereby securing a strong position in the services market.
Moreover, the Hungarian bank now plans to expand its presence in Uzbekistan. This includes the creation of a joint company to develop auto lending, the launch of a business financing program, and the construction of a large-scale poultry cluster.
Other companies are also showing activity. For example, Inpark has been granted the right to manage a special industrial zone for European enterprises being established in the Tashkent region.
During the talks, Mirziyoyev outlined several priority areas for expanding cooperation. These include co-financing joint projects and supporting the export of finished products to third-country markets. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership in the transport sector, such as increasing freight traffic and developing air communication between the two countries.
At the meeting, agreements were reached on the implementation of new projects in the following areas:
✅ modernization of transport and road infrastructure;
✅ construction of logistics centers and utility networks;
✅ production of construction materials, finished textiles, chemical products, and pharmaceuticals.
In addition, a ceremony was held to exchange agreements on the implementation of priority investment projects.
The President of Uzbekistan encouraged representatives of Hungarian businesses to hold such meetings regularly.
“We will create all necessary conditions for the development of strong ties between the business communities of our countries,” Mirziyoyev concluded.
