Starting June 1, Uzbekistan will introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of the republic, citing a presidential decree “On measures to enhance the role and importance of tourism in the economy through the accelerated expansion of tourism services.”
Uzbekistan expects a sharp increase in the number of tourists in the near future. The decree envisions increasing the number of foreign tourists to 15.8 million and domestic tourists to 40 million by the end of 2025.
Tourism service exports are planned to reach $4 billion, and 378 new tour operators will be launched across the country.
An International Tourism Week will be held annually in November. Starting in June, under the “Travel Around Uzbekistan!” program, Saturday and Sunday of the second week of each month have been designated as travel days for families and work groups.
ℹ️ After the change of leadership in Uzbekistan in 2016, tourism was declared a strategic sector. At that time, the goal was set to attract 15 million foreign tourists per year and increase tourism service exports to $5 billion by 2030.
