Number of Enterprises with Chinese Investments in Uzbekistan Increases by Over 1,000 in a Year

As of February 1, 2025, Uzbekistan had 3,467 enterprises with Chinese investments—an increase of 1,035 compared to the previous year’s 2,432 enterprises, according to the Uzbekistan Statistics Agency.

At the same time, the number of enterprises with Russian investments declined, dropping from 3,049 to 2,973. A year earlier, the figure stood at 3,156.

In total, Uzbekistan recorded 15,163 enterprises and organizations with foreign investments. Besides China and Russia, the top six countries by number of enterprises include:

✅ Turkey – 1,869 enterprises
✅ Kazakhstan – 1,060
✅ South Korea – 660
✅ United States – 330

China’s share of total foreign investments in Uzbekistan has also increased, reaching 27.9%.

The total volume of capital investments in Uzbekistan for 2024 amounted to 493.7 trillion UZS ($38 billion), with foreign investments and loans accounting for 67.6% of the total. The top five countries by share of foreign capital investments in Uzbekistan were:

✅ China – 27.9%
✅ Russia – 13.2%
✅ Turkey – 6.8%
✅ Germany – 5.2%
✅ Saudi Arabia – 5%

The share of foreign investments and loans in capital investments has been steadily growing. In 2023, it stood at 53.4%, up from 41.6% in 2022.

In 2022, Russia was the leading investor in Uzbekistan, accounting for 20.3% of total investments, while China’s share was 16.4%. However, by 2023, the two countries switched places, with China’s share rising to 25.6% and Russia’s declining to 13.4%.
