Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) exceeded 1.5 trillion soms ($17.2 billion) in 2024, marking a 9% increase, according to the National Statistical Committee of the republic.
In 2023, the country’s GDP amounted to 1.2 trillion soms ($13.7 billion), surpassing the trillion-som mark for the first time. The previous year, GDP stood at 919.4 billion soms ($10.9 billion). The Kyrgyz government has set an ambitious goal to boost GDP to $200 billion by 2050.
“We can even call this our national dream! We are no longer a poor country. In the future, we must become a strong and prosperous nation!” President Sadyr Japarov declared in the spring of 2024.
Additional data presented on January 14 by Bakytbek Kudaibergenov, head of the National Statistical Committee, covered the period from January to November 2024. During these 11 months, the volume of foreign and mutual trade reached $14.6 billion, a 3.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Exports grew by 21.3%, while imports decreased by 0.8%.
Mutual trade with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to $4.5 billion, a 9.1% rise compared to the same period in 2023. Kyrgyzstan’s primary trade partners within the EAEU were Russia (71.2% of mutual trade) and Kazakhstan (26.9%).
Kudaibergenov also highlighted the growth of the average monthly nominal salary, which increased by 12.4% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 36,000 soms ($411).
