Suspect in Allamjonov Assassination Attempt Extradited from South Korea to Uzbekistan

Javlon Yunusov, one of the suspects in the criminal case involving the assassination attempt on former Uzbekistan presidential press secretary Komil Allamjonov, has been detained in South Korea. The suspect has already been extradited to his home country, according to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Central Asian republic.

The supervisory agency clarified that during the course of operational search activities, seven individuals involved in the crime were identified. Five of them have been taken into custody, while arrest warrants have been issued for two other suspects.

Additionally, the address of a suspect identified as K.S., hiding in Kazakhstan, has been established, and investigative actions involving him have been conducted. However, it is unknown whether this individual has been brought to Uzbekistan.

The agency added that investigators have examined the crime scene and the vehicles of those implicated in the case, as well as conducted searches in the apartments of suspects, where they discovered material evidence related to the case. The Prosecutor General's Office press service did not provide further details.

The investigation continues.

ℹ️ The incident occurred on October 26 at 01:40 local time (23:40 Moscow time) on Ifor Street in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region. Two unidentified individuals fired several shots at a moving Range Rover vehicle, then fled in an unknown direction. There were no casualties.

Later, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that four men had been detained in connection with the attempted assassination of former Uzbekistan presidential press secretary Komil Allamjonov. Law enforcement officials have opened a case under Articles 25 («Preparation for a crime and attempted crime»), 97 («Intentional murder»), and 248 («Illegal trafficking in firearms, ammunition, main parts of firearms, explosives, blasting agents or explosive devices») of the republic's Criminal Code.
